During COVID-19 we wanted to recognise the hard work that all our customers’ carers are doing. As well as CareLineLive’s April Star Carer Semra from Care to you healthcare, we also want to offer our congratulations to our April Star Carer runners-up who will each receive a Love2Shop voucher:

We caught up with Semra about being CareLineLive’s April Star Carer, her experiences of being a carer during COVID-19 and winning the April Star Carer award of a Love2Shop voucher and a personalised trophy.

Semra was nominated for working so hard and supporting one of her clients who had suffered from a stroke and who was unable to walk, to walk again. She assisted her client by helping her to exercise. An amazing achievement.

What was your reaction to winning CareLineLive’s April Star Carer Award?

I’m really happy to win…this is very special to me.

What aspects of being a carer do you enjoy?

I enjoy working with older people who really need help, and having been a carer for the last year I am now more experienced. I often do jobs to help people outside of my role in my own time too.

What’s your experience of being a carer during Covid-19?

The area that I work in has not been affected badly by Covid-19 as far as I know. However I use mask, gloves, everything to protect our clients. We are always incredibly careful with cleaning and using anti-septic, but I am not afraid of Covid-19. It is good that people are listening to the rules and not going out.

How does CareLineLive’s Carer Companion App help in your job?

It’s important as it tells me what my clients need in real-time, it gives me all the information I need like medicine administration and the tasks that I must do.

How do you switch off after a hard day at work?

The job is sometimes hard when we have built relationships with our clients and they sadly pass away. To relax, my husband and I go to our allotment where we are growing lots of vegetables. A cup of tea or a glass of wine also helps me unwind!
