CareLineLive attended the North East care show yesterday at Elland Road Stadium, the home of Leeds United Football team and what an event it was. The atmosphere was buzzing with positivity and genuine optimism. During the event, we welcomed numerous home care providers to our stand, many CareLineLive customers visited and it was wonderful to engage in conversations and to get insights into how they utilise our software. We chatted about the positive impact that the adoption of technology has had on their workflows and discussed ways to leverage the system for even greater benefits.
It’s encouraging to witness numerous providers eager to advance the sector. The enthusiasm surrounding technology’s potential to enhance the working lives of those working in services is unmistakable, and the positive effects this has on service users are truly inspiring.

Several well-attended seminars took place, highlighted by a particularly engaging panel discussion on the integration of technology in social care. The discussion centred on the extensive adoption of technology and the substantial benefits it brings to service providers.
There was a clear emphasis on employee well-being, with talks covering the following topics:
Future-ready workforces: balancing retention, well-being, and development
Best approaches and innovations in technology integration in care
CQC update
Alison Chilton, the Deputy Director of the North Network at the Care Quality Commission, addressed the audience, providing a comprehensive update on the current status of the regulator during this challenging period for the organisation.
Here are the key takeaways from CQC:
- The regulator is exploring appointing a fourth chief inspector for mental health services
- Modifying the framework – Professor Sir Mike Richards, (Former Chief inspector of Hospitals at CQC (2013 to 2017) and Professor Vic Rayner OBE (Chief Executive Officer of the National Care Forum and Chair of the Care Provider Alliance (CPA) are leading this
- IT is still an issue and from 18th November 2024 registrations for providers and managers will not be done through the provider portal, providers will/have been notified of this change. More information can be found here
Single Assessment Framework
- A comprehensive review of the single assessment framework utilising a collaborative and co-design approach in partnership with providers
- Key questions to be retained (although the speaker did refer to them as KLOE’s)
- Potentially NOT rating the evidence categories
- 34 quality statements realigned and to be made clearer
- Scoring on quality statements only
- Reports will be simpler and clearer and potentially outside the online process
Timeframes
- Restructuring should start being implemented ‘around’ January 2025
- No definitive timeframes for implementation of the revised Single Assessment Framework
We will of course, keep you updated with the evolving changes and what it means for providers if home care.
