Pearl Clinton was awarded 3rd place in CareLineLive’s Home Care Hero of the Year Award 2025. She was nominated by Lisa Savannah, administrator and coordinator at The Sign Life based in Birmingham.

Here’s what Lisa’s nomination said:

I believe Pearl deserves to win the CareLineLive Home Care Hero of the Year Award because she is truly exceptional in everything she does.

Pearl provides outstanding BSL services and unwavering support to the Deaf community across the West Midlands and her dedication goes far beyond the expectations of her role. TheSignLife was founded by Pearl in memory of her father, Albert Clinton, who was profoundly Deaf, as is her mother. Growing up as a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), Pearl experienced first-hand the communication barriers, challenges and injustices the Deaf community face daily. From a young age, she was responsible for interpreting and advocating for her parents in situations a child should never have had to navigate.

These early experiences shaped her passion and fuelled her lifelong commitment to improving access, dignity and equality for Deaf people. Through TheSignLife, Pearl now uses her personal journey, professional expertise and deep empathy to support Deaf service users with a wide range of needs. She consistently goes above and beyond, ensuring that every individual receives the communication access, care and respect they deserve. Her compassion, leadership and advocacy have made a meaningful and lasting impact on countless lives.

Pearl’s dedication to her community, her ability to turn personal hardship into empowerment for others and her tireless fight for equality make her a true hero in home care. She is an inspiration to colleagues, service users and the wider community and is truly deserving of this award.
