What is care brokerage?

Care brokerage is the process local authorities and care commissioners use to source and allocate the right care package through approved providers. In care commissioning, it sits between an agreed care requirement and provider allocation – helping teams match need, location, service requirements and provider suitability quickly and fairly.

Traditionally, this process has relied on email, spreadsheets, phone calls and manual follow-up. Digital care brokerage helps brokerage and commissioning teams manage provider engagement, responses and allocation in a more structured, transparent and auditable way.

What is Care eBrokerage?

eBrokerage – or electronic brokerage – is the digital version of traditional care brokerage. It replaces manual processes such as emailing providers, checking availability by hand and tracking responses in spreadsheets, with a structured, automated and auditable system.

In practice, eBrokerage gives local authorities and care commissioners a more efficient way to source and allocate home care packages through approved providers, while improving transparency, reporting and auditability across the full workflow.

Why CareBrokerage from CareLineLive?

CareBrokerage aids hybrid working both by care commissioners and by care providers, because the care package data is held securely in the cloud, requiring only an internet enabled computer and Chrome browser to access via secure login.

Where CareBrokerage is in use, care providers are more likely to bid for care packages. This is partly because the packages that providers are offered are already appropriate (the right type of care/skillset required, in their territory), they receive automated notifications and can instantly see the location of the service user on a map. The portal is user friendly and provides an efficient platform for viewing and replying to packages.

If individual care packages become uneconomic for a provider there’s a configurable facility to trade packages through an online marketplace controlled by the commissioning body.
