Rhiannon has 4 young children, yet has a full time position with us caring for a range of ages and needs, she is always there to step in and help where needed and always go beyond her role to help others she has this month been accepted onto a mental health nursing degree after successfully completing her A levels last year. Rhiannon truly is super woman!

What was your reaction to winning CareLineLive’s Star Carer Award?

I was shocked when I was told I had won as my boss hadn’t actually told me she had nominated me! It feels great to be recognised within my organisation for my commitment and dedication as part of the team.

What aspects of being a carer do you enjoy?

I find my job really rewarding; being able to help my clients live independently in their own homes is amazing. Even just making the slightest bit of difference in someones life is really fulfilling.

Working as a carer especially dealing with clients with dementia made me want to further my career into a medical profession. The human body fascinates me and I cant wait to broaden my knowledge!

How does CareLineLive’s Carer Companion App help in your job?

I think the CareLineLive app so much better than having to use pen and paper. It’s quick and easily accessible to see pervious notes.

What are the challenges in your job?

I think the most challenging part of this job role is the loss of clients, after building a relationship it can be emotional when they pass.

How do you switch off after a hard day at work?

I love being a mum and spending time with them but I also like going to work and switching off from ‘mum’ and be an individual. Work is part of my ‘me time’. I want to be a good role model for my children and to show them that if you want something you need to go out and earn it.

To wind down from work I enjoy walking the cliff paths, being by the sea I find very therapeutic. I love being at home; home is my safe space surrounded by the choas of my home life!
