Our star carer award is a highlight of the month for us. This month you can learn about the exceptional care provided by Augustin Dikeogu, nominated by Justin Ezeoke, registered manager at Saint Catherine’s Care Oxford. Join us in celebrating a dedicated healthcare professional.

This is what Justin said about Augustin in his nomination:

“Austin started work with us as a 19-year-old international student. Although he didn’t know much about caring and had immediate age-related challenges since our clients were mostly elderly, we saw immediately that his kind, gentle, respectful and unassuming nature would endear him to clients. We were right as despite his age, he has grown in maturity since joining us just over a year ago and is now one of our most requested care workers. He has a great attitude to learning and gets on with all his colleagues. Even when under pressure, his great can-do attitude makes our lives easier in the office as well as his creative nature in solving problems, and contributing to care planning and risk assessments. We are delighted to nominate him as the CareLineLive’s Star Carer of the Month.”

What was your reaction to winning CareLineLive’ s Star Carer Award?

I was very happy and surprised. It was very nice to be recognised and appreciated for what I am doing.

What aspects of being a carer do you enjoy?

I like making people feel comfortable, happy and making them smile because a lot of people that I see are lonely.

How does CareLineLive’s Carer Companion App help in your job?

I really like the App. Before people used to use paper and that must have been really hard. I’m from the generation that uses tech a lot and so it’s great that I have it at work. I can get information to people quickly and that’s really good.

What are the challenges in your job?

It can be hard if I’m late to get to people sometimes that happens and it can be a problem if the next person that I am seeing is one who likes me to be there on time, it can be stressful.

How do you switch off after a hard day at work?

I really like technology so when I finish work I research technology and look at animation. Now that we have the light nights, if I finish work early enough I like to go for a run.
