Over the last twelve months, the development team led by Director of Development Dec Norton and Product Manager Sean Orrell has successfully delivered a remarkable new feature to enhance the existing array of impressive features offered by CareLineLive. We are excited to officially launch GP Connect integration with CareLineLive. This addition is warmly welcomed and marks another significant step towards the long-awaited seamless information exchange between the NHS and social care providers.

GP Connect and social care: An overview

Ensure that you research GP Connect to grasp its benefits for your service. This system is tailored to facilitate the sharing of patient or client data among staff and a variety of services, empowering them to deliver improved care. Keep in mind that social care is in the initial stages of digital information sharing. Providers must exercise patience as the sector advances through these long-awaited information exchanges.

There are caveats to activating GP Connect including that providers must be CQC registered, have reached “standards met” for the current NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit self-assessment and signed the National Data Sharing Arrangement for GP Connect. In addition, there are differing types of access which is dependent on professional registration. Therefore, those members of staff will have full access whilst others will have restricted access.

We’re here for our customer every step of the way!

Full access

Registered clinicians who have a current professional clinical registration in England will have the option of gaining full access. This will give users access to more detailed information including:

  • Encounters with the GP
  • Clinical information and observations
  • Problems and issues
  • Administrative items

Restricted access

Restricted access is available to those working in a CQC registered organisation e.g. registered care managers and senior care workers, it’s prudent to suggest that for many home care services this will be the type of access available to users. The good news is that this group of users will have access to:

  • Summary of the last three encounters (that’s the maximum currently allowed by GP Connect)
  • Active problems and issues
  • Major inactive problems and issues
  • Medications
  • Allergies and adverse reactions
  • Immunisations

How it all works

We’re here for our customers every step of the way!

Once all the details are finalised (DSPT and NDSA), CareLineLive customers can reach out to express their interest. Complete the registration form here. CareLineLive will then connect with the GP Connect Operational Team to access your unique credentials, it’s as simple as that!

Home care providers play a crucial role in preparing the necessary information, which includes:

  • Set up users of GP Connect
  • Full access users will need their professional identification details
  • Valid NHS Number for each client
  • Client consent – we recommend acquiring written consent. You  can also access storage in the new Client Choices section, located in the Clients module

Once successfully registered with GP Connect Operations Team we’ll be in contact to arrange a short onboarding session. This will include:

  • Configuring your CareLineLive environment
  • A walk through recording consent for each client
  • Verify the connection is successful
  • A demo of how to add additional GP connect users
