What does being ‘cloud-based’ care software mean?

Cloud-based technology allows you to use programs and information that are stored on the internet rather than your own computer or smartphone.

We regularly describe CareLineLive as a ‘cloud-based’ system but what does that actually mean?

Cloud-based technology allows you to use software (like CareLineLive) and information (like client care records) on your PCs or mobile by using a web browser or an app – the important thing is that the software code and the data recorded in the software is not stored on your local device, but rather on servers in data centres.

Cloud-based systems must have a continuous internet connection to function as there is a constant to and fro of data between your local device and the servers hosted on the ‘cloud’ in data centres.

The CareLineLive management platform is a secure software application that can be accessed via a web browser on any internet-connected device so administrators, carers, friends and family can easily access all the information they need about the care you are providing a client. Everyone sees the most up-to-date information in real-time, no matter who is making changes on the system.

How does a cloud-based application differ from a traditional software application installed on your PC?

A cloud-based application must have a continuous internet connection to function whereas a traditional PC software application’s code is run from the local memory of the PC and data is stored locally as well.

Benefits of cloud-based technology

For end-users, cloud computing means they can access everything they need from any device that has an internet connection. Whether they are working from the office desktop, their home laptop, or their mobile device on-the-go, they can access their account.

Information syncs across all the devices in real-time so there’s no need to worry about information being out of date, or needing to duplicate work.

What about security in the cloud?

We take care of keeping your data safe in the cloud. It is always available to authorised
users and there is no need for local back-ups. CareLineLive is NHS DSP Toolkit compliant and Cyber Essentials certified. We are also ISO27001 certified.

The information is all saved on CareLineLive’s servers so you also don’t have to worry about capacity or commit to expensive computer infrastructure or maintenance costs.

From the outset, CareLineLive has been built with resilience and scalability in mind. Computing power automatically scales to meet higher demand, ensuring your experience always remains responsive.

What does this mean for home care businesses?

Our cloud-based home care management software, accessed anywhere anytime from any internet-enabled device, will help you improve your home care business and care provision with real time information, organised in a logical system and available at the click of a button or the swipe of a thumb.

And rather than just have, for instance, your rostering information available in our system, CareLineLive can also handle the organisation of care management, patient records, eMAR, all the usual care paperwork and documentation, compliance recording and data management, invoicing, payroll and more.

We even offer 24/7 access to our Care Circle Portal for family friends and other medical professionals giving them as much client information as you would like to make available. We can also provide managed handsets for your carers with unlimited minutes and data so you don’t need to rely on carer’s using their own mobile phones and data packages.
