What was your reaction to gaining 2nd place in CareLineLive’s Home Care Hero Award?
I was honestly shocked – I had no idea I’d been nominated! It was a complete surprise, but a really lovely one. Just knowing that someone took the time to put me forward means so much. I don’t do this job for recognition, but it’s incredibly touching to know my work has made a difference. I’m really proud to have come 2nd – it’s such an honour.
What is your role at Serendip Home Care?
I am a Care Field Supervisor at Serendip Home Care. My role involves supporting both our clients and care team. I carry out care plans, assessments, spot checks and I’m a point of contact for clients, families and carers. I work closely with everyone to make sure our care is safe, personal and consistent.
What does a typical day look like in your role?
No two days are exactly the same, but typically I start by reviewing updates or changes to care plans, visiting clients for assessments or reviews, and checking in with carers to offer support. I carry out spot checks, help with training or guidance when needed, and make sure our care delivery stays high-quality. I also step in to provide hands-on care when required – I’m there for both the clients and the team.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
What I love most is being able to support people – whether that’s helping a client feel comfortable and cared for, or giving a carer the reassurance and guidance they need. I find the role incredibly rewarding, especially when I see the positive difference we’re making in someone’s life. I genuinely care about the clients and my team, and I’m proud to be part of their journey.
What challenges do you face in your role?
One challenge is juggling different responsibilities and making sure everyone gets the support they need – clients, families and carers. It can also be emotionally demanding, especially in difficult situations or when a client’s health changes suddenly. But I always remind myself that being there during those times is part of what makes the job meaningful.
How does CareLineLive’s technology help you in your role?
CareLineLive is a huge help in staying organised and informed. I can view rotas, visit records and updates in real time, which allows me to respond quickly and make informed decisions. It also helps keep communication flowing smoothly between the office and carers, so we can focus on providing the best care possible.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy relaxing with my family, going for walks with our dog. Taking time for myself helps me recharge so I can stay positive and energetic at work.
