Alice Parker is our Star Carer for August. She works for Q1Care in Berkshire.

“Alice always has a smile on her face and never complains about whatever she is asked to do, she is an absolute asset to our business, and we could not be without her.”

Alice’s manager nominated her for the award and says:

“Alice is not only a wonderful carer that goes above and beyond for our clients, but she has also supported the office in hard times and adapted really well to the role of care coordinator. She always ensures the clients she supports are well cared for in a person-centred way and encourages choice, often going to visit outside of care call times to ensure this. She always has a smile on her face and never complains about whatever she is asked to do, she is an absolute asset to our business, and we could not be without her”.

What was your reaction to winning CareLineLive’s Star Carer Award?

Honestly, shocked! I haven’t been using CareLineLive for very long and have had to learn as I go. I am so grateful to be chosen, it confirms that I am obviously doing the best I can.

What aspects of being a carer do you enjoy?

The client’s are my favourite aspect of this job. I love knowing that I have met their needs to the best of my ability and can leave them knowing I have made their day a little brighter. A lot of our client’s live alone and my face is possibly the only one they see all day. So making sure that time is worthwhile for them is all I need.

You work as a care coordinator as well, what aspects of the role do you enjoy?

I must say, being care coordinator was a big transition and a big responsibility to get my head around. I love domiciliary care, but being the care coordinator has its own set of rewarding responsibilities. I can make sure all clients and carers needs are met and take my experience of being out in the field, into the office. I enjoy all of it, I can’t pinpoint any aspect.

How does CareLineLive’s Carer Companion App help in your job?

From both sides of domiciliary care and care coordinator, it really helps me stay up-to-date with all our clients. I can make sure all of our information is sufficient and useful, but also refer to it when out in the field. CareLiveLine has made it so easy to stay focused during care calls and make sure our client’s needs are met.

What are the challenges in your job?

From both sides of care, it is a very fast paced environment and can be very challenging, physically and mentally. But even with these challenges, I know how our care visits and everything we do in the office, impacts the lives of our client’s and assists them with being independent and staying home.

How do you switch off after a hard day’s work?

I spend time with my mum and my dog, watching TV and catching each other up on the day. Then having a good sleep:)
